Happy Long Notes
This card is inspired by something I saw in an online gallery by "Stinkerbell". I made some changes to it though, to use it for a recent class.
We did a night on dry embossing, where we made the pink birthday card you've seen already, a debossed card, and this card featuring the faux embossing technique. Now I've recently come across two faux embossing techniques. One incorporates punching out shapes and adhering them to cardstock of the same colour. Simple enough. This one is the one I learned as faux embossing about a year ago. This one requires some patience and practice to really achieve the desired effect, especially when you are doing it with wheels, like we did here.
This is the Long Notes card, found in the spring mini. Neat shape to work with, isn't it? We wheeled the Petals jumbo wheel in Cool Caribean ink onto the Cool Caribean cardfront, lining up the seam of the wheel to the edge of the cardstock. After cleaning the wheel, we rolled again with Whisper White craft ink, again lining up the seam to the cardstock. Did I say this takes practice and patience?
After a few attempts, it gets easier, so it's worth doing a few trial runs on scraps first.
Designer paper, a scalloped edge created with the corner rounder and the 1/8" hand punch, some gingham, and a popped up stamped flower from the Polka Dots and Paisley set finish the card. What do you think? I think I'll use for a baby gift for someone in my small group.
