Guest Artist: Deanna Underwood
We received this wonderful surprise in our church mailbox this past weekend. Deanna is a friend and customer and I am thrilled to feature her artwork here.
What struck me about this card is its beautiful simplicity. I love the polished stone technique and this sample is a gorgeous example of it.
If you don't know the polished stone technique, simply, here is how to do it:
Choose 2 or 3 reinker colours, including a metallic reinker. Drip a few drops of the reinkers on a rubbing-alcohol soaked cotton ball. Pounce or dab a the cottonball on glossy paper. You will get different effects depending on whether you pounce, dab, or streak the cottonball across the paper. Allow to dry and use as a background or focal point. You can stamp on top with Staz-On ink.
Deanna layered an Almost Artichoke strip across the polished stone piece with gold brads. The Easter sentiment is an old stamp she's had around for years, she says, so we don't know who manufactured it or if it is readily available.
I welcome the opportunity to showcase artwork from my team, customers and friends here, so I hope to feature more guest artists here in the near future. Thank you so much, Deanna, for allowing me to share your artwork here!
