In addition to playing with microbeads at our last club get together, we looked at some things to do with ribbon, besides the obvious. We started out by dying grosgrain. I won't go into the details of how to do it here, because Amy Rysavy has a great tutorial with pictures on ribbon dying over at SplitCoast. But this was the first time I had actually tried it. Sarah, my 7 year old, helped me experiment with it before the ladies came over. I was amazed at the results!
I wanted to try colours that SU! doesn't already carry. We tried the Barely Banana first - check out the picture - it's a perfect match to the cardstock. Thrilled with how our experiment was going, Sarah urged me to do another, so we tried a length of Cameo Coral, and again, we achieved superb results. When I did it with the ladies, our results demonstrated the ribbon dying works, but we didn't quite get the result we were after... Perhaps I didn't measure quite accurately, or maybe with deeper colours, I needed just a bit more reinker, but our Pink Passion looks more like Pixie Pink, wouldn't you say? I am happy with the results overall, and will try dying again in the future, when I'd like a colour I don't have...
