Inky Antics part 1
I got together with my stamp club last week - we always have a lot of fun and Wednesday night was no exception. Although they are experienced stampers, I thought it might be a good idea to revisit a few things we can do with ink, besides the obvious...
I showed them 3 techniques & cards.
One of the things we covered was the kissing technique. Boy it would have been fun to do that last month with the Sell-a-bration stamp "Big Blosssom". But we were doing something else last month - oh well. So I got to work kissing with Polka Dots & Paisley, the free set we received at Christmas from Shelley Gardiner, the CEO & co-founder of Stampin' Up!
As I played around with kissing the background and focal piece, I realized that for this card monochromatic was working better for me. At first I was kissing greens and yellows, purples and reds, playing with different background stamps. Finally Crosshatch and Canvas found each other, and it started to come together. I like the combination of Pumpkin Pie and Almost Apricot. I kissed both the flower and the word "happy" with the polka dot stamp. If you don't know the kissing technique, it's inking up a stamp that will create a background effect in a dark colour, inking up the image stamp (this works great with Headline Alphabet and the monograms)in a lighter colour, and stamping the darker inked stamp NOT onto paper, but onto the other stamp. Then stamping that stamp onto paper. I like the effect of kissing the polka dots and will have to remember to do that one again sometime.
And of course, we had to play with the new tab punch. You've seen me go on and on about it - this time we kept it simple...
I'll post another stamp club card soon!
