Doodle This - sneak peak #1

I entered a swap featuring sets in the upcoming Spring mini, hosted by a demonstrator in Quebec. I pre-ordered my set, and zut!, when it arrived, I had accidentally entered the wrong order number. I briefly considered keeping the set I had received, but decided to send it back and get the set I really wanted. So that gave me much less time to get this swap out to Nancy. I entered 2 groups which means that I had to make 2 different designs, in the quantity of 10 + 1 for each group. The +1 is for the hostess, and the 10 are one for each participant. So Nancy needs our swaps by Monday the 26th and, because of my ordering error, and my busy week, I was still designing last night. This is one of the cards I came up with. The card is made with Sage Shadow, which is one of my challenging colours. I have favourite colours that I reach for all the time, and others that I tend not use as often. Some of them I just don't like. Sage Shadow is not one I don't like, just one I ignore for some reason. But last night, Sage Shadow was the one I reached for - probably because I did the focal piece first... The focal piece is the large flower from the Doodle This stamp set, stamped in black and painted in with Pearl Ex and Future Floor Wax. Most of the cleaning supplies in my home are stamping supplies, not cleaning supplies - ha ha ha! So the focal point has a lovely metallic sheen in person - the photo does not capture it, unfortunately. So the Duo green/blue pearl ex on the little bits around the flower looked sage-ish to me and that's why Sage Shadow came out last night. I stamped the doodly curly-cues with Craft White on the Sage Shadow and used black and the "Happiness" stamp from the Warm Words set for the lower right corner. The flower focal point is mounted on Pixie Pink, one of my favourite pinks in the SU! palette. Before I glued it down, I used the corner rounder punch to create the scallops. Yes, the corner rounder punch. I slipped the punch out of the bracket piece that usually guides a corner in. Then I repeat punched across the paper edge, and used the 1/16" hole punch to add a little more umph to the scalloped edge. Some ribbon attached with a brad finish this card off.
